Interesting Art of the Day: Walead Beshty.
Los Angeles artist Walead Beshty spent a good deal of time between 2005 and 2014 shipping glass boxes via FedEx to create a fascinating series of sculptural works entitled, simply, “FedEx Works.”
Each of the works were shipped in an unbroken state and the final, displayed work was the result of their journey. This was done by using boxes constructed of laminated glass that would break, but not fall apart, which fit perfectly inside their containers. It was up to the receiving party to carefully remove each from their packaging and then title them pertaining to their tracking number, date and size.
